Wroclaw scientists to receive over PLN 2.3 million for research on leukemia and lymphomas in dogs

24.12.2020

Scientists of the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław and the Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy of the Polish Academy of Sciences will continue research on canine leukemias and lymphomas, diagnostics of these neoplastic diseases and treatment options.

The aim of the project is to create simple and quick test strips that allow to accurately determine the type of hematological disease in a dog. The scientists obtained over 2.3 million from the National Center for Research and Development,

– The tests work just like pregnancy tests. There are test stripes appearing in the cassette. After taking a biological sample from the enlarged lymph node of the dog, it is transferred to the test cassette. Our innovation is that we will detect whether we are dealing with cancer, but also, what is important for the therapy, we will be able to describe the type of lymphoma, whether they are B or T cells – says the project leader, Prof. Arkadiusz Miążek.
