The Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences and ZOO Wrocław will continue their cooperation. A five-year agreement on this matter was signed by the rector of the university, Prof. Jarosław Bosy, the president of ZOO Wrocław Radosław Ratajszczak and the director of the garden for breeding Mirosław Piasecki.
Cooperation between the university and the ZOO will link theory and research with practice. It will also cover the transfer of knowledge, joint scientific publications, applying for research funding based on Polish and foreign grants, and the implementation of apprenticeships, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral theses in the zoo.
The Wrocław zoo is the oldest in Poland, fifth in terms of visits in Europe and third in the world in terms of the number of species (1,132).
The University and the Zoo have a lot in common, but most of all love for animals and a fascination with the natural world. The Wrocław university also educates future ZOO employees. They constitute almost a third of the ZOO crew.
