For the second year in a row, the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław (UPWr) remains at the forefront of universities whose researchers have obtained the most patents. In 2021, there were 118 of them, giving UPWr third place in the ranking of the Polish Patent Office; a year later, there were 56, putting it in fourth place.
The ranking prepared by the Patent Office shows that both in terms of patent applications and the number of exclusive rights received, technical universities are leading the way. In the top ten, only Wrocław University of Life Sciences and the University of Silesia do not fall into this category.
Over the past two years, UPWr scientists have been granted 174 patents. A chance for their implementation can only come from active cooperation with industry and listening to current trends and market needs. It is important to take into account the actual, current demand of potential customers and consumers already at the stage of planning research work and designing new solutions.
