Scientists from the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology began cooperation with the Lower Silesian Oncological Center. Researchers are sharing experiences in the field of medical thermal imaging. The goal is to create a biometric system that analyzes the body temperature of center employees.
The first temperature measurements started last weekend with creating a database of thermal and digital photos of DCO employees. On this basis, it will be possible to develop a system for identifying people with elevated temperatures.
Thermal imaging cameras are installed in front of the Radiotherapy Department and at the gate, where employees enter the building – Cameras can scan the body temperature in real time and indicate whether we are dealing with an infection or whether the employee is healthy – says Dr Marzena Janiszewska, head of the Medical Physics Department of the Lower Silesian Oncological Center and voivodship consultant for medical physics.
