Three Polish scientists have received prestigious grants from the European Research Council. They will receive a total of nearly EUR 4.5 million for the five-year research.

The ERC Starting Grant is addressed for young scientists from 2 to 7 years after presenting their doctorates. The laureates include two scientists from the University of Warsaw and a researcher from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków.

Dr Eng. Urszula Stachewicz of the Faculty of Metals Engineering and Industrial Computer Science, is implementing a project that concerns innovative insulation materials that reduce daily energy consumption.

Dr Michał Pilipczuk from the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of the University of Warsaw (UW) will investigate the structural and decomposition properties of networks and try to use them to create fast computational methods within the project “Decomposition methods for discrete problems”.

Dr Wojciech Czerwiński, also from the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of the University of Warsaw, is implementing a project – INFSYS (“Challenging Problems in Infinite-State Systems”), which addresses several important challenges related to information systems, called infinitely state.
