Dr Sandra Ilona Paszkiewicz and Dr Piotr Franciszczak from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics of the West Pomeranian University of Technology were among 211 outstanding young scientists who received scholarships from the Minister of Science and Higher Education.

Szczecin scholarship holders conduct scientific research in the field of material engineering. Dr Paszkiewicz investigates the synthesis of new polymer materials based partly or entirely on renewable raw materials (including compounds of plant origin, such as starch or lignocellulose).

Dr Franciszczak deals with short fiber reinforced composites for injection processing. The manufacturing processes developed by him are to ensure higher mechanical parameters and reduce material costs.

Winners of ministerial scholarships will receive PLN 5,390 per month for up to 3 years. The Ministry of Science allocated a total of over PLN 40 million to finance the research of young scientists.
