Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals to launch new alloys based on iron and copper

18.02.2020

Research Network Łukasiewicz – Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals started the implementation of the project entitled “Modern iron-based and copper-based alloys intended for the manufacture of products with the designed structure and properties using additive technology”.

The goal is to develop new iron-based and copper-based alloys and technologies for producing charge materials, in the form of spheroidal powders and wires, which will be used for the production of incremental methods of machine parts working under impact loads.

Newly developed alloys will be characterized by a high level of mechanical strength, resistance to abrasive wearing and high susceptibility to energy absorption. The project will be implemented jointly with the Warsaw University of Technology, Military University of Technology and Zakłady Mechaniczne “Tarnów” S.A.

The total cost of the project is almost PLN 13.2 million, over 12.65 million is funded from the National Center for Research and Development.
