The employees of the Department of Forensic Medicine at the Medical University of Wroclaw together with archaeologists from the Office of Exploration and Identification of the Institute of National Remembrance in Georgia sought mass graves of victims of Stalinist repressions from the 1930s and from the period of the Georgian uprising.

During the work, the place of revealing human remains in the vicinity of the village of Rustavi was examined, where, according to archival data, there could be mass graves of victims of repression. The Polish team of scientists acquainted Georgian archaeologists and employees of the Georgian Ministry of Interior with the methods used for many years in the country to conduct archaeological searches, research documentation and inspection of remains.

The search in the vicinity of Rustavi was the first step of Polish-Georgian cooperation. The investigated post eventually turned out to be a former cemetery and mass graves were not found during the work. According to mutual assurances, exploratory research in Georgia will be continued.
