Students of the Silesian University of Technology and architects design the Municipal Stadium in Katowice

The project of an employee and students of the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology won the International Urban and Architectural Competition for the Municipal Stadium Project in Katowice. The construction according to the awarded project will start in two years.

The jury awarded the prize for creating a homogeneous, integrated architectural group with minimalist architecture and an intimate scale, which naturally uses the topography of the area and its natural conditions. The authors of the project are Dr Eng Damian Radwański from the architecture department and Marius Schlesiona, jointly creating the RS-Architekci company. The project was co-created by students of the University: Jakub Kapral, Karolina Rusek, Piotr Szenkowski and Marcin Woźnica.

The stadium will be built near the A4 motorway, at the entry way to Katowice from Wrocław. The complex will consist of 6 training fields, a car park for 1.7 thousand cars, football stadium for 15 thousand fans, multifunctional sports hall for approx. 3 thousand spectators and other sports facilities.
