Students of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology to fly to the USA for the University Rover Challenge 2019

17.04.2019

Students of the Wrocław University of Technology qualified for the races of the University Rover Challenge 2019 Mars rovers, which will take place in the USA at the turn of May and June. In the final they will compete with 35 teams from all over the world.

Students will present their Scorpio X rover. The design has all-wheel drive, each powered by a separate engine. The rover’s tires are made of cordura and filled with a special foam. This is the original solution of Wroclaw constructors.

The construction of the rover was made largely of light materials – aviation aluminium and polyamide. Scorpio X has a modular structure, which allows users to attach additional elements to it and modify any existing components.

The University Rover Challenge has been organized for thirteen years and the rivalry takes place in the desert of Utah, at the Mars Desert Research Station. This is one of the largest and most important international races for Mars rovers.
