Deepening knowledge and developing research and documentation work on cemeteries is the aim of the 1st Interdisciplinary Congress on Cemetery Research, which is organised by the Institute of Art History at Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) in Warsaw. The event will take place on the premises of UKSW on 20-21 October 2022.

It is intended that the congress will become a regular meeting of researchers, as well as other specialists involved in the documentation of cemeteries or caring for them. 

The UKSW initiative focuses primarily on issues related to the history, conservation and restoration of cemeteries, the artistic values of cemetery architecture and art, the challenges of the future in both artistic and technical and social aspects, the cultural significance of cemeteries, and finally the philosophical foundations of their presence in the world.
