From 12 to 14 September 2023, the 1st International School of Communication “How to document stories about war” was held. “How to document stories about war?”, organised simultaneously in two academic units connected by telebridge: in Lublin at the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism of Maria Curie Sklodowska University (UMCS) and at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

The topics of the First International School of Communication focused on documenting historical testimonies during the Russian-Ukrainian war and the problems of oral history in Central and Eastern Europe, its impact on the formation of historical memory, as well as the influence of Russian propaganda and disinformation on the information space of Poland and Ukraine in history and memory.

‘It is our collective, moral duty and obligation to document the voices of history, so that they can later be used in a scholarly way not only for research purposes, but also as a kind of document of the tragedy of that period’, said Professor Radosław Dobrowolski, rector of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, while opening the event.
