The 1st Pakistan-Poland International Academic Conference was held in Karachi on 6-7 December 2022. The event was organised by the Department of International Relations of the Urdu Federal University of Arts, Science and Technology in Karachi and the Institute of Political Science of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.

The organisers highlighted the historical links between Pakistan and Poland. They recalled that the first travellers from Poland began to penetrate the territories that today belong to Pakistan as early as the Middle Ages, and that in the 19th century, two Polish explorers – Jan Golaszewski and Bronislaw Grąbczewski – prepared the first topographical descriptions of Hunza and Karakorum.

Conference participants heard speeches on Pakistani-Polish political, economic and cultural relations. Topics related to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and on contemporary security threats were also addressed.
