2019 Nobel Prize winner in chemistry to visit Warsaw University of Technology

On 21-22 November 2022. Warsaw University of Technology (PW) will be visited by Prof. M. Stanley Whittingham, the 2019 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, who will receive an honorary doctorate from PW, meet with university authorities, researchers, PhD students and students, and give an open lecture.  

Prof. M. Stanley Whittingham is working at the State University of New York at Binghamton (Binghamton University). The scientist is the recipient of the Battery Research Award (2003), Award for Lifetime Contributions, (the American Chemical Society, 2010), Thomson Reuters Citation Award (2015), ISSI Senior Scientist Award (2017), Turnbull Award (MRS, 2018). In 2018, he became a member of the US National Academy of Engineering. 

In 2019, he was one of the recipients of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry (alongside Prof. John B. Goodenough and Prof. Akira Yoshino). The award was given for the development of lithium-ion batteries.
