The Stefan Banach Scholarships were awarded by a joint initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Science and the National Agency for Academic Exchange to young people from developing countries who are planning to study in Poland.
After assessing 2,000 applications, financial support was granted to 260 people from nearly 30 countries. Most scholarships were received by citizens of Ethiopia (21 people), Nigeria (20 people), Ukraine (19 people) and Azerbaijan (16 people). Also, the scholarship recipients include students from Albania, Belarus, Brazil, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya and Vietnam.
The most popular universities were the Warsaw University of Technology, the University of Warsaw, the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, the University of Wrocław and the Jagiellonian University. The most frequently chosen studies include Engineering and technical sciences as well as exact and natural sciences.
