On February 28, 2019, the 4EU + alliance submitted an application in the “European Universities” competition funded by the Erasmus + program. The European Commission is supporting alliances of European universities. This will be a crucial step towards the creation of a European area of education until 2025.
The 4EU + European Alliance unites six renowned and comprehensively educating research universities.
In 2017, Charles University (Czech Republic), University of Heidelberg (Germany), Sorbonne University (Sorbonne Université, France) and University of Warsaw (Poland) formed the 4EU alliance, which was officially inaugurated on March 10, 2018 in Paris. At the beginning of October 2018, a common strategy for long-term cooperation was approved (Joint Strategy for Long-term Cooperation). In the same month, the Alliance included more two universities – the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) and the University of Milan (Italy).
