The University of Szczecin, the University of Gdańsk and the Pomeranian University in Słupsk will implement a project of digitization and sharing collections of herbariums of Pomeranian academic units on the Internet. This is the first such undertaking in Poland.
The aim of the project is to digitize and make available on-line resources of Pomeranian herbarias. Thanks to the project, the costs of access to herbarium resources will be reduced, as well as access to the achievements of Polish researchers will be easier.
The Pomeranian Herbaria will be made available digitally as the first such initiative in Poland. This will help disseminate the knowledge about the achievements of Polish scientists, as well as increase the number of Polish researchers’ citations.
Almost 500 thousand valuable plants will be scanned and made available on the web. The project will be financed from the Operational Program Digital Poland 2014-2020. The total cost of implementation is PLN 25 million.
