The Institute of Textile and Polymer Composite Materials at the Faculty of Material Technologies and Textile Design at the Lodz University of Technology (PŁ) conducted tests of protective properties of masks that were sewn by Lodz social workers and Łódź companies at the request of the Department of Health and Social Affairs of the City of Lodz.
The team led by Prof. Izabella Krucińska assessed the filtering capacity of masks by determining the permeation of paraffin oil mist and analyzing the degree of breathing under flow conditions of a stream of polluted air through the tested mask. The main goal was to determine the quality and indicate the best designs of mask models that could be used for private use.
The tests were carried out free of charge and their results were forwarded to the Department of Health and Social Affairs of the City of Łódź.
