The Medical University of Warsaw (WUM) has been officially admitted to the global organization Fight The Fakes (FTF), whose activity focuses on raising awareness about the risks of drugs counterfeiting. WUM is the only representative of Central and Eastern Europe.

Established in 2013, FTF currently brings together 40 partner organizations representing healthcare, patients, wholesalers and industry.

The Department of Pharmacy of the Medical University of Warsaw is dealing with the issues of pharmaceutical crimes. In 2016, the Team for Counterfeit Drugs and in 2019, the Forensic Pharmacy Department were created there. Its purpose is education and cooperation with law enforcement agencies, including testing of counterfeit and illegal products on behalf of the police, prosecutor’s office and identification of health threats.
