The research program written by second graders from the Gliwice Academic Secondary School will be launched on board the International Space Station. The Gliwice students were among 208 teams from 22 countries that took part in the International Competition “Astro Pi Mission Space Lab”.
Their task was providing physical experiment using a Raspberry Pi microcomputer, equipped with a set of sensors of temperature, pressure, humidity. The program, written by second-year students in Python language, was selected by experts from the European Space Agency and the Raspberry Pi Foundation for meeting the requirements of originality of the idea, code quality and project feasibility.
All experiments in the competition will be launched and supervised by an astronaut aboard the International Space Station. Then the project participants will have to write a short report. After its assessment, the jury will select the winners.
