The laboratory of the Department of Forensic Genetics of the Department of Forensic Medicine of the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin will perform coronavirus tests. The laboratory is ready to perform tests from April 17. All formalities have been completed, validation tests of the test method have also been provided successfully.
The Department of Forensic Genetics of the Department of Forensic Medicine of the Pomeranian Medical University that previously was involved in comparative tests, determining the degree of kinship, in particular the identification and testing of DNA of biological traces – including for the needs of the Polish Genetic Database of the Victims of Totalitarianisms, now has introduced research procedures for the detection of coronavirus.
The analyzes are performed in accordance with WHO recommendations using genetic tests based on RT PCR technology and DNA sequencing. Now they can be used to diagnose people, and thus increase research opportunities in the region.
