Professor Elżbieta Żądzińska was elected the new rector of the University of Łódź (UŁ) for the 2020-2024 term. She is the first woman to lead the University of Lodz.
Professor Elżbieta Żądzińska is a graduate of the Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences, University of Lodz. She completed her biological studies in 1990. In 1999, she obtained a doctorate in biological sciences, and in 2005 she became an associate professor in biological sciences. In 2014, she received a professor’s title.
For 25 years of work at the University of Lodz, she has completed all stages of a scientific career: from scientific and technical worker to professor. In 2005–2008 she was the vice-dean of the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection, and for the next eight years she was elected the dean. In 2016, she became the Vice-Rector for Science.
Since 2014, she has been an Honorary Visiting Research Fellow of the School of Medical Sciences University of Adelaide.
