The invention “Method of eradication of bacterial phytopathogens using DC glow discharge” developed by the scientists from the Interfaculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk, Medical University of Gdańsk and the Wrocław University of Science and Technology has been patented.

The patent concerns the inactivation of pathogenic bacteria against plants with the use of a reaction-discharge flow system generating cold plasma. The device is intended for the sterilization of liquid waste, e.g. sewage, post-production water or liquid waste from research laboratories or belonging to e.g. sanitary inspections.

The invention of the scientific team led by Prof. Ewa Łojkowska from the University of Gdańsk, will enable to limit the spread of dangerous pathogens in the natural environment and reduce losses in the agricultural sector or the production of ornamental plants.
