11.08.2020

The Koszalin University of Technology conducted scientific research on the development of a prototype of a helmet protecting against the COVID-19 virus. For this purpose, the university received 135,000 PLN from EU funds.

The money was granted by the Marshal’s Office in Szczecin in the first round of the call for applications under the “Socially Responsible” Proto_lab “project, which is one of the elements of the West Pomeranian Anti-Crisis Package. Eurofunds were allocated to the development and testing of technologies supporting medical and emergency research in the fight against the coronavirus.

The research started in early April and lasted three months. They concerned the optimization of the production process of helmets in terms of the speed of production in 3D technology, as well as the choice of material for production, which had to obtain adequate mechanical strength, biodegradability and resistance to chemicals.
