Doctor Marcin Ostrowski from the Department and Clinic of Thoracic Surgery at the Medical University of Gdańsk received the award of the Polish Society of Clinical Oncology for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of oncology presented in 2019.

The author presented his work entitled “Screening tests in the group of people at high risk of developing lung cancer – analysis of diagnosis, treatment and epidemiological aspects”. The publication summarizes the results of lung cancer screening performed so far in the world.

The supervisor is Prof. Witold Rzyman, and the assistant supervisor is Dr Tomasz Marjański. The dissertation was published in numerous scientific journals. The award was presented during the Opening Ceremony of the XXIII Virtual Congress of the Polish Society of Clinical Oncology in Krakow.
