The University of Gdańsk came fourth in the category of classical universities in Poland in the latest edition of the Times Higher Education World University Ranking (THE WUR). In the overall ranking of Polish universities, it came seventh among all 19 listed educational institutions.
THE WUR ranking is a global list of more than 1500 higher education entities of various profiles from 93 countries. Institutions are rated in terms of qualitative assessment of their missions, which are inscribed in the activities of universities. American universities dominated the top ten, the British University of Oxford remains the leader for five years.
Qualitative assessment indicators are divided into five areas: teaching, research (scope of research and team reputation), citation rate (research impact), international visibility of universities and participation in the economy (knowledge transfer).
