University of Adam Mickiewicz to launch Polish-Chinese project of diagnosis and treatment of ischemic heart disease

13.01.2021

NanoHEART project of Prof. Stefan Jurga, University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań was selected for implementation as part of the Polish-Chinese bilateral competition organized by the Polish National Center for Research and Development and the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology.

Researchers of the university in Poznań together with their colleagues from the Chinese University of Tianjin will create nanosystems for the diagnosis and treatment of ischemic heart disease using multifunctional nanoparticles.

The most efficient selection of nanoparticles will be tested in a rat model. The nanoparticles will be introduced into the body by intravenous injection. The experiments will be conducted with the use of i.a. magnetic resonance imaging. The researchers’ ultimate task will be to restore heart activity where the heart attack occurs.
