Minister Czarnek speaks on the development of Polish science and decommunization

29.01.2021

-It seems to me that diplomas of Polish universities are recognized well in the world, although they must be recognized even better. That is why we are obliged to develop Polish science, which in some cases is completely unused – said Przemysław Czarnek, Minister of Education and Science.

The head of the Ministry of Education and Science informed that several disciplinary proceedings are underway against rectors who concealed their cooperation with the Security Service of the People’s Republic of Poland.

In this context, referring to decommunization, he stated that it means the removal agents of the Security Service and possibly even closer collaborators of the Security Service, but not people who only studied during the communist era.

-Decommunisation in its pure form is unfortunately a past imperfect tense. We did not conduct it not only at universities, but practically nowhere. And it’s been 30 years now, so there are fewer and fewer ex-agents present at Polish universities – he added.
