The University of Opole has launched the project “Cultural diversity of Silesia in language, literature and traditions”. The Polish-German undertaking is carried out by the Opole Institute of German Philology in cooperation with the Studierendenwerk Trier (SWT).
The aim of the project is to capture the regional phenomenon of cultural diversity in Silesia. Its participants, students from Germany and Poland, plan to learn and document historical and current aspects and dimensions of Polish, German, Silesian and Jewish cultures.
Cultural diversity enriches, inspires, and allows to overcome restrictive beliefs and habits. The specificity of Silesia is that constituting a mix of national and ethnic minorities, cultures, traditions and languages, it still forms one community – explain project implementers.
The project is co-financed by Polish-German Youth Cooperation Office Potsdam.
