Rector of the Medical University of Wrocław, Prof. Piotr Ponikowski is the only Pole included in the list of 1,000 most cited scientists in the world in the Web of Universities Ranking.

Prof. Ponikowski is the only Pole in the first thousand most cited scientists in the world, taking 325th place. This is a great achievement and prestige for the Medical University of Wrocław, which was classified on this list as the only Polish university in the first thousand. Over 4,700 scientists were classified in the ranking.

In November 2020, Prof. Ponikowski was also rated as one of four Poles in the Clarivate Analytics 2020 ranking – a prestigious list of the most cited scientists from around the world in the last 10 years. Clarivate Analytics is a key element of the Academic Ranking of World Universities, which is one of the oldest annual rankings of the best universities in the world.
