Polish-Lithuanian project by Dr Eng. Julita Kulbacka, Medical University of Wrocław received funding from the Department and Department of Molecular and Cell Biology of the University of Wrocław under the DAINA 2 National Science Center program.
Research on the manipulation of drug resistance in cancer cells by nanosecond, asymmetric pulse sequences will be carried out in cooperation with the Institute of High Magnetic Fields of the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. The scientists are planning to create an innovative electroporation platform that will enable the generation of asymmetric nanosecond pulses.
Electroporation is a technique used in medicine, biology, and food processing. Recently, the nanosecond pulsed electric field (NsPEF) technique has been developing intensively in the scientific world. The potential of this technique has been proven in anti-cancer therapy. NsPEF is a purely “electrical cancer therapy” that does not require the use of additional drugs.
