The Department of Strategic and International Security Studies at the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations of the University of Warsaw (WNPiSM UW) are inviting scholars to the seminar “The Fall of Kabul and its International Implications”. The event will take place on October 19, 2021, from 3.00 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. at Collegium Politicum UW.
The chaotic, though pre-planned evacuation of the Western presence in Afghanistan is undoubtedly the end of an era. The unequivocally negative assessment of this event, which is dominant in the media and in the expert community, is well-founded. It is important, however, that the West has finally freed itself from Afghanistan.
The long-term implications of the end of this operation and the abandonment of Afghanistan, however, depend on the ability of the West to draw the right conclusions and the behavior of both the country’s new authorities and regional actors – say the organizers in the announcement of the seminar.
