Przemysław Czarnek, the Minister of Education and Science, took part in the inauguration of the academic year at the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL). During the event, he delivered an inaugural lecture “The dispute over the rule of law”.
The head of the Ministry of Science emphasized that the issue of the rule of law is not a new topic at the Catholic University of Lublin. Nineteen years ago, a similar topic was discussed by Prof. Wojciech Łączkowski, a longtime professor of law.
The rule of law binds all organs of public authority. The state must have a law that binds, in particular, public authorities. Public authorities are obliged to comply with the law and conduct their activities only on the basis of the provisions of the law and within the limits specified by that law – said Minister Czarnek.
He also pointed out that although democracy is a system of clashing opinions and views, the truth must also be protected in a democratic state. It is impossible to establish the truth with the help of democracy – he added.
