Sixteen researchers of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin are included in this year’s prestigious ranking of the most influential people of science in the world. The TOP 2% ranking is a very detailed study by analysts from the American Stanford University, Elsevier publishing house and SciTech Strategies.
TOP 2 percent classification is based on two assumptions. The first one assesses the overall scientific achievements of researchers from the beginning of their careers to 2020 according to the bibliometric index, taking into account such criteria as the Hirsch index, the number of citations, self-citations, or the position on the list of authors. The second assumption includes the most cited scientists in the world in 2020.
190 thousand scientists were included in the ranking from all over the world with 957 people working in Polish research centers. The largest group of influential scientists from Poland work for the Polish Academy of Sciences (174 people).
