In the first of three POLONEZ BIS competitions, 151 scientists from 41 countries submitted applications for funding research projects at host institutions in Poland.
The National Science Center (NCN) received 40 applications in humanities and social sciences, 83 in exact and technical sciences, and 28 in life sciences. Applications will now undergo a formal evaluation, and then will be submitted for content-related evaluation by independent international experts and reviewers. The final results of the competition will be known at the beginning of June 2022.
POLONEZ BIS is co-financed by the European Commission and the National Science Center under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND grant. 120 world experienced scientists will be selected within three competitions, one in 2021 and two in 2022. They will come to Poland for 24 months to conduct basic research in institutions of their choice.
The National Science Center and the European Commission will allocate PLN 48 million (approximately EUR 11 million) to finance the mobility of researchers in all fields of science under this competition.
