The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) has signed a letter of intent with the Central Board of the Prison Service, launching the Center for Studies of the Catholic University of Lublin for Inmates to educate convicts at a higher level and spread important ethical and humanistic values.
The ceremonial inauguration of the work to launch the Center for Studies of the Catholic University of Lublin for Inmates took place on April 12 at the Remand Center in Lublin.
During the ceremony, Fr. Prof. Mirosław Kalinowski, the rector of the Catholic University of Lublin emphasized that “The Center for Studies of the Catholic University of Lublin for Inmates is becoming not only the leading center in Poland, but it can be set as a model for all penitentiary units around the world”.
The planned launch of the center will take place in October 2022. The Rector of the Catholic University of Lublin also reminded that the involvement of universities in the rehabilitation of inmates in the Remand Prison in Lublin through education has been going on for many years.
The KUL Study Center for Inmates will be co-financed by the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Justice.
