The Department of Process Engineering and Technology of Polymer and Carbon Materials, Wrocław University of Science and Technology is implementing the ZABAT project which is financed by the M-ERA.NET 3 competition for research in materials engineering. The network selected 70 projects, including 19 with the participation of scientists from Poland.
The new generation of environmentally friendly, reversible zinc-air cells storing much more energy than the currently used lithium-ion cells will be developed at Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
Scientists will use porous zinc materials, hydrogel electrolytes based on synthetic and natural polymers, and new multi-functional materials using transition metal compounds, graphene materials and porous carbon materials.
The following participants are involved in the ZABAT project: Acondicionamiento Tarrasense – Leitat Technological Center (Spain), SINTEF AS (Norway), Fraunhofer Gesellschaft and Heraeus Battery Technology GmbH (Germany) and the Wrocław University of Technology.
