The University of the Basque Country and the organisation Greenovate! Europe are launching the SYMBIOREM project to reduce environmental pollution through innovative bioremediation processes. Researchers from the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław are taking part in the work.
Researchers working on the SYMBIOREM project are developing twelve innovative biological technologies to combat the four most common soil and groundwater contaminants in Europe: heavy metals, mineral oil, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and volatile aromatic hydrocarbons. The project will also focus on mixed pollution, eutrophication, organic micropollutants and microplastics.
Participation in this project will give the university access to the latest technologies and allow researchers to work in an international consortium and collaborate with world-renowned bioremediation specialists.
