Prof. Józef Kuczmaszewski, former rector of Lublin University of Technology (PL), has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Krakow University of Technology (PK). The researcher is a specialist in the field of construction and adhesive bonding technology for structural materials, especially for the aerospace industry, as well as the founder of a scientific school in the technology of shaping the energy state of the surface layer of structural materials. 

“Prof. Józef Kuczmaszewski is a Man of the University, with enormous knowledge, experience and competences who has a sense of a special public mission incumbent on the academic community, and who is aware of the hardships, responsibilities, splendours, but also dangers associated with the pursuit of his scientific passion”, said Prof. Sebastian Skoczypiec, Head of the Chair of Production Engineering and Automation at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at PK during the laudation.

Prof. Kuczmaszewski was vice-dean of the PL Mechanical Faculty from 1993 to 1999. He held the position of Head of the Department of Technological Processes and Systems (1998-2000) and Head of the Department of Production Engineering, transformed in 2012 into the Department of Fundamentals of Production Engineering (2000-2020). In 2002, Prof Kuczmaszewski became rector of PL and held this position until 2008.
