Researchers from the Institute of Forestry Sciences at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW), led by Dr Wojciech Kędziora, are conducting a project ‘Restoring recreational potential of damaged forests for human well-being in V4 and post-war Ukraine’, funded under the Visegrad Funds. As a result of the research, they want to contribute to restoring the recreational potential of forests for well-being in post-war Ukraine.

The main objective of the project is to collect and analyse information on methods, strategies and existing best practices for restoring the recreational potential of destroyed forests in the Visegrad partner countries (Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia) and to propose their implementation in Ukrainian forests destroyed by the war.

“Our assumption is that there is potential in destabilised, damaged areas that is not always quickly and fully exploited. We want to test this by exchanging good practices, reviewing existing directions, methods and ways of managing such areas”, explains Dr Wojciech Kędziora.
