The President of the Council of Ministers awarded 50 prizes for scientific, technical, artistic, post-PhD and PhD dissertations for 2017.
Prime Minister’s prizes were established on the initiative of the Polish Academy of Sciences in 1994. They are awarded for scientific or artistic achievements, including outstanding academic, artistic or highly-rated achievements being the basis for holding the PhD or post-PhD titles, outstanding PhD dissertations and other scientific and technical achievements.
This year’s winners are Prof. Agnieszka Słowik and Prof. Tadeusz J. Popiela from the Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, who received the first prize in the category of scientific and technical achievements for the “Małopolska program for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke with mechanical thrombectomy coordinated by the University Center for the Treatment of acute ischemic stroke – CITO”.
In the category of scientific achievements, Prof. Ewa Górecka was awarded for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of chemistry and physics of liquid crystals, in particular for pioneering contributions to research on the structure and properties of liquid crystal materials.
