Researchers from the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology at the Poznań University of Life Sciences have developed a pioneering technology to produce wooden bed frames.
A team of scientists from the Poznan university participated in research on the development of the structure and production technology of wooden bed frames carried out by the Sun Garden Polska company. Innovative on a global scale, the research included both development and validation (automation and robotisation).
As a result of the project, they were able to develop a modern frame design with lower manufacturing costs and, at the same time, increased strength. A process was implemented to increase the productivity, efficiency and quality of manufactured wood products.
Both material savings of 29 % compared to a solid wood reference frame and environmental savings related to reduced energy consumption per unit of product were achieved.
