Researchers from Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology have developed a prototype of an intelligent parking space and an application to find and reserve free parking spaces in city centres, reports Łukasiewicz.
The Poznan researchers carried out a pilot involving delivery vehicles in Kalisz. The tests lasted several months and were concluded with a survey of drivers and shop and restaurant owners. As many as 66 % of respondents acknowledged that the app offers the potential to reduce delivery times and enable a reduction in congestion on the streets. Almost a quarter highlighted a possible increase in road safety.
The solution was developed as part of the SPROUT – Sustainable Policy RespOnse to Urban mobility Transition project implemented in 15 countries. In Poland, the partners are the Łukasiewicz-Poznański Institute of Technology, the City of Kalisz and the Kalisz Business Incubator.
