On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the establishment of the Commission on National Education, the Olsztyn scientific community is organising a nationwide scientific conference “The Commission on National Education and its legacy”. The event will take place on 16-17 October 2023 at the Wojciech Kętrzynski Northern Institute and the new premises of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn.

The conference is organised by the Department of General and Welfare Pedagogy of the Faculty of Social Sciences at UWM, the Education Committee of the Wojciech Kętrzyn Scientific Society in cooperation with the Northern Institute in Olsztyn. 

The theme of the conference is the historical and contemporary implications of the achievements and legacy of the Commission on National Education from a global and local perspective. Conference topics will include: the teacher and the pupil in the space of different types of schools, teacher education, the child and childhood, and the role of societies and institutes in furthering scientific thought.
