Until 20 August, the exhibition ‘Animal Before Me’ is on display at the National Museum in Poznań. The display is the result of almost a year’s collaboration between the Museum and the Institute of Art History at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, and is also the first exhibition in the post-war history of the Poznan museum to be organised jointly by students and museum professionals.
As part of the project, students from the Poznan university selected objects from the museum’s collection, conceptualised them, discussed the arrangement and prepared texts for the catalogue.
‘This was work that was to prepare them for their future careers as curators, museum professionals and employees of cultural institutions in the broad sense. We are very keen to show our students, our future graduates, what the future of art historians looks like. As far as I know, we are the only Institute of Art History that focuses on something like this”, says the Institute’s director, Professor Piotr Korduba.
