From 11-16 September 2023, the University of Lodz (UŁ) hosted Polish philosophers, as well as scientists practising philosophical sciences representing many countries of the world. The Institute of Philosophy at the University of Lodz, with the participation of the Polish Philosophical Society and the Committee on Philosophical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, hosted the 12th Polish Philosophical Congress, reports the Centre for Communication and PR of the University of Lodz.
The convention was held on the 100th anniversary of the First Polish Philosophical Congress organised in 1923 at the Jan Kazimierz University in Lwów (Lviv).
The event consisted of debates, panel discussions, plenary lectures, symposia and deliberations in over 20 thematic sections. Professor Paul Guyer of Brown University (USA) was the special guest of the Congress.
“The Philosophy Congress is a celebration of philosophy. It is important to send out a message that philosophy is a living discipline, which functions and which is also important in terms of its social impact”, said Prof Paweł Łuków of the University of Warsaw, chairman of the General Board of the Polish Philosophical Society, to the Congress participants.
