The National Science Center (NCN) summarized the competitions organized in 2017. At that time, NCN announced and settled 12 competitions. As part of the announced competitions, the NCN received over 10,000 applications, and 2,940 of them were qualified for funding. The total amount of granted financing amounts to PLN 1.1 billion.

The most popular competition in the NCN’s offer last year was OPUS. In its two parts, the Center received over 3.6 thousand applications to grant financial suport to 890 in the total amount of over PLN 694 million. The second place is taken by PRELUDIUM, under which over 2.3 thousand non PhD researchers applied for funding. Thanks to the NCN support, almost 700 scholars will carry out their research and receive support in the amount of almost PLN 79.2 million.

The most of funds in competitions was awarded by the National Science Center last year to scientists conducting research in voivodships including the strongest academic centers: Mazowieckie, Małopolskie and Wielkopolskie Regions.
