Scientists from Toruń become laureates of the Sonatina 2 competition

Dr Nicolas Peschken from the faculty of physics, astronomy and computer science and Dr Michał Złoch from the Interdisciplinary Center of Modern Technologies of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń become the laureates of the Sonatina 2 competition of the National Science Center.

Dr Peschken will receive over 600,000 PLN for the implementation of the project “The impact of cosmic space-driven winds on disk galaxies and the evolution of their angular momentum”, and Dr. Złoch will obtain over 950,000. PLN for the project “The use of MALDI-TOF / MS technique in monitoring and rapid diagnosis of the development of diabetic foot infection”.

The Sonatina 2 competition is aimed at scientists who have a PhD degree no longer than 3 years. In this year’s competition, 154 applications were submitted and funding was granted to 45 researchers. The whole project budget is over PLN 30 million. As part of the grant, the laureates are paid within his Polish scientific organizations, their research projects are supported and they are provided with an internship at a foreign scientific center lasting for 3 to 6 months.
