Dr Grzegorz Brożek from the Chair and Department of Epidemiology at the Medical Faculty of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice became the chairman of the epidemiological group European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) with automatic membership in the management board of the Environmental and Occupational Allergies section.

EAACI is one of the largest organizations in the world joining over 50 national allergological societies, about 10,000. scientists, researchers and doctors from 121 countries around the world. It acts as a scientific reference organization for other scientific, health and political organizations dealing with allergology and clinical immunology.

Additional areas of EAACI activity include: promotion of basic and clinical research, collection, evaluation and dissemination of scientific information, postgraduate education and promotion of good care of patients in allergology and clinical immunology.
