Łukasz Modrzejewski, a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Wrocław University of Technology, won the main prize in the competition of the Association of Polish Architects. The winner is the author of the work “Museum of Contemporary Art in Wrocław” – a project of a museum object, which would be built on the Wrocław Maślicki Hill, which was a former rubbish dump.
The laureate designed a triangular entrance building with huge gates and a second structure, which he called a tunnel. There would be exhibition rooms that would gradually, with each room, fill with more and more items – so that they would start to overwhelm and would fill up to the end, making visitors aware of how much they have, how much they are overlooked and how easily they get rid of them.
The jury justified granting the main prize to Łukasz Modrzejewski by the fact that his work “in a subtle but eloquent way shows the main problem of the modern world, which is its destruction”.
